This is a timeline for our documentary which we have put down the dates and what we are doing each week to complete our film. We are planning to get our filming done in around 4 weeks, although it is very likely we will need longer to make it the best we can. We are going to try to get the editing done in one week so we have long enough to write our evaluation.  

 As a group we came up with our final idea for our documentary and we presented it in a presentation. We have decided to look at the impact that fast food has on the younger generation.

We thought this would be an interesting topic to look at, as it's somehting that many people are affected by, so it will give people the truth and facts on this topic. We also thought there would be a lot of places we could film as there is many new fast food chains in our local area.

Captive for 18 Years: The Jaycee Lee Story

'Captive for 18 Years: The Jaycee Lee Story' is an American documentary which explores the obduction of a 11 year old girl named Jaycee Lee Dugard in 1991. She was waiting at a bus stop waiting for her school bus when a car pulled over occupied by a man and women, she was dragged in and driven away. She was found alive in 2009, after being held captive for 18 years, by a sex offender.

Conventions used in this documentary:

- The title is shown around 1 and a half minutes in to the documentary, after the introduction of the topic. - This informs the audience on what the film will be about.
- Archive footage is used, with the use of home videos of Jaycee Lee and news videos of her obduction.
- A voiceover is used - voice of god. The voiceover is exaplaining the story of Jaycee Lee.
- Interviews are incorporated of Jaycee Lee's family members and friends, aswell as police men, the interviews are mainly formal.

Editing:

- A fade is used in many places to mark the start of the next scene/ topic.  

-  Music - loud and fast music is used to create tension leading up to her obduction. Slow music and peaceful music is to create emotion.

- Voiceover - voice of god.

Fahrenheit 9/11 - Michael Moore

Fahrenheit 9/11 is an American documentary which was released in 2004. Michael Moore is the film maker and also stars in the film.

-At the beginning of the documentary there is an introduction of the topic, which helps explain to the viewers what the film is about.

-In this film there is archive footage used whith news reports and newspapers.

-Theres a voice of god at the beginning of the documentary.

-At the start it talks about what happens before the 9/11 disaster.

-Comedic music is used at the beginning.

- The tone changes when they begin to talk about the 9/11 disaster - it becomes serious.

- Different types of interviews are shown - some formal, others informal - showing the change in tone.

- Hand held cameras are used for some clips - they are used for following the action and they produce shaky shots. 

- Comedic music is used through out, when George Bush is the main subject - This makes George Bush look like a joke, showing he is not respected. 

- The film becomes a participatory because Michael Moore almost becomes a character. 

- Comedic narration is used to make George Bush seem humorous. 

- Michael Moore is shown in front of the camera when he is interviewing a women, showing he has a strong connection with the subject and interviwee. 

- The voiceover goes against what George Bush says - making a joke out of him.

Effect on the audience:

- George Bush is put across to the audience that he is a fool and a joke, which is shown by the comedic country and western music, also with the comedic narrator making a joke out of his speaches. 

-Archive footage is used against him and his ways of running the country. Making him seem like a bad president to the audience. It almost chooses the audiences opinion on what they should think, making it quite biased. 

- It's a light hearted view on a serious issue. Although it becomes serious and emotional when the 9/11 disaster is explained - change in tone.

Editing:

- Some clips are slowed down during the explanation of the 9/11 disaster which creates emotion.

- The titles are shown later on in the film.

- Jump cuts.
