UK Documentaries

                             'One Born Every Minute'

'One Born Every Minute' is an English documentary which exlpores the labour ward of a maternity hospital. It shows the amazing journey that women go through during their pregnancy and labour. 40 cameras are placed in the maternity ward to capture those special moments. This documentary helps to inform the audience of what pragnancy and labour is like.
This is an observational documentary as the camera follows a person as the events unfold. 'One Born Every Minute' shares the womens most special moment with the audience, creating an emotional documentary. This documentary will be mostly watched by women as this is what most go through, so it can be useful and factual for those women.

'Supersize vs Superskinny'

'Supersize vs Superskinny' is a UK documentary which trys to help two people reach a healthy weight. Two people are put in a house together, one is extremely underweight and the other is over weight. They swap their very different diets with each other to see it they can reach a healthy weight. It is a very hard and emotional process for them both, which makes this documentary emotional for the audeince.
It also informs the audience that they should eat healthy otherwise they too could become an unhealthy weight. This documentary is also a observational type because it follows the two people as they go through their eating plans and try to reach their healthy weight.

March of the Penguins Poster
This presentation is showing how we would make a documentary. We had to make it an observational and participatory documentary. We chose to make a documentary on elephants for participatory and observational documentary because we could follow the action with a hand held camera, involve ourselves(film maker) in the documentary as we could feed the elephants and we could do informal interviews with the park keepers, as well as many other techniques that makes it this type of documentary. We were inspired by the film 'March Of The Penguins' because it is also an observational documentary. Loong takes dominate similar to what we will do in our documentary as it follows the animals as they go about their every day lives. Also 'March Of The Penguins' incorporates a voiceover which explains what is going on in the clip and information on the animals which informs the viewer, we aso have decided to have a voiceover in our documentary.
